• The transition of the blockchain to a new consensus algorithm Soft Majority Fault Tolerance (SMFT), that raises the bar to 50% fault tolerance (compared to the 33% of Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus)
• Creation of a new smart contract "elector", which is responsible for the selection of validators to prevent the appearance of "monopolists" with large stakes in the network and maintain a high level of decentralization
• Updating the Reliable External Message Protocol (REMP), responsible for messages delivery in the network. Its will help to reduce the response time inside the blockchain to about 1 second

Vote on FlatQube DAO 🗳
The vote on the amount of rewards in the farming pools (Epoch 9) is now active on FlatQube DAO. The vote will last until February 14.
To participate in this epoch, you need veQUBE virtual tokens, which are issued in exchange for locked QUBE tokens. The maximum locking period is 4 years.
The veQUBE formula
All pools that get from 1–35% of the votes will get rewards. The rewards will be split up and distributed according to the percentage of votes a pool receives. All pools that receive less than 1% of the votes won’t get rewards and their votes will be allocated to other pools. For pools that receive more than 35%, once the voting period ends, the surplus will be to the treasury.
How to get veQUBE and vote
• Go to the Balance management tab
• Select the QUBE locking period: from 14 to 1460 days. The longer the locking period, the more veQUBE you get.
• Return to the DAO tab and vote for one or more farming pools. You can vote only once at one 14-day Epoch.

Sharding in blockchain 🔀
Blockchain platforms are focused on solving the blockchain trilemma — finding ways to increase scalability (the ability to process more transactions in less time) while maintaining a high level of decentralization and network security.
The tasks performed by nodes in the blockchain are associated with increasing load: the need to execute transactions requires more computing power; the need to forward transactions to other nodes requires more throughput, and the need to save the state and history of the blockchain requires more disk space.
One of the tools for optimizing the load on nodes is sharding — the ability of blockchains to be divided into segments in which transactions are performed in parallel.
Sharding is the process of dividing transactions in the blockchain network into separate parts — shards, which are verified by different nodes of the network.
There are different types of sharding used in different blockchains.
Dynamic sharding used in Everscale allows you to solve scalability problems without losing speed. If there is a need for simultaneous execution of millions and billions of smart contracts, then it is necessary to scale exactly this — simultaneous execution of smart contracts. The dynamic sharding model resembles an accordion. It is compressed and decompressed depending on the load on the network.
