Fyi, just changing the post order, schedule and themes.
Ozzy Osbournes latest album “Ordinary Man” has been released today. Yey! :)
As you already know, he had to postpone his upcoming tour due to health issues. ney :(
I wish Ozzy a speedy recovery and hope he’s on stage soon.

Here is Ozzy’s music video that I like to mentally use as a reference. It was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who produced shitloads of great mvs.

Talking about Jonas Åkerlund.
He also directed Porcelain by Moby.
I was listening to this song quite often and the same with this mv.
Might be one of the reasons why I like to put eyes in all my projects.

And talking about Moby.
It was one of the live gigs that I attended and mega enjoyed.
People wanted to see Moby so much that they jumped over the VIP fence rushed to the stage as soon as the gates opened. I was one of them.

With Bodyrock (Fire version) I discovered that you can direct a mv in "that" way.

And of course, fire, I love, fire.

Exposure! We need exposure! More people should know! oki oki!

People like moving pictures. FB knows this and pushes videos everywhere. Videos get twice more engagement on Instagram than other types of posts. You probably noticed this yourself when you see the analytics.

For sure I see it with my posts. All my motion/animation clips have more views, likes etc. Even a simple animated logo that zooms in or out has more likes than my complex hand-drawn illustration.

#promotion #exposure #socialmedia
Actually, what got me into animation was not only traditional stuff like Akira or Fantasia but also Monty Python, Terry Gilliam and his stop motion stuff. He’s a mega beast. If you’ve seen my stuff, there’s a clear Terry influence.

Let’s just watch some animation clips from Monty Python done by Terry. Great stuff.

All this day stuff.
Just you talking to yourself.

I’ve got a quote for you from Tom Waits.

New Old Stuff

Netflix announced that they are making a K-Drama starring BTS (seven-member South Korean boy band).

This reminds me of time when Elvis was starring in all those movies.

We can use this:

Use your phone and with your bandmates make a low budget series for youtube.

Like a low budget porn, but music instead of sex: badly acted intro, "let me show you something", orgasm faces listening to the music.

Metal cheese.

I’m researching low budget music videos these days. I put aside videos that might be used later as a reference. With pop, hip-hop and indie it’s quite easy to find good examples.

With rock, metal etc. genres it’s a bit problematic. It looks like the “serious tone/style” of the music (or other reason) kinda limits the low budget thing. It’s either cheesiness or self-irony.

I’ve attached some well-known low budget mv examples in pop/hip-hop/indie.

Could you please write below some low-low budget music videos in metal/rock genre?

It says, yes. More news later.
Based on these numbers I would say that YouTube is the most important platform for finding new fans.

...As I'm adding more songs to my Spotify playlist I notice that it's getting harder and harder to discover new stuff. The main reason is that on YouTube I can see if I listened to the artist or not (I don't know if it's the default function or just my extensions). Or because my visual memory is better than my audio memory, most of the time I know the bands by their album artwork. On spotify either I need to add some markers or write it down or do smth to see if I listened to the artist already...
