SATAN'S BEER
#marketing #notmusic

I see a Kozel ad in my Instagram feed today.

How the hell did this Czech brand become one of most popular beers around? I noticed the beginning of it's world domination a couple of years ago. I didn't care until today, cos now I know the facebook ad prices. And for Kozel it must be quite expensive. Too expensive.

So I check the wiki, turns out they add virgin blood to their beer that explains their popularity.

Not really, turns out - as I thought - together with Pilsner Urquell and other brands it was bought by Asahi Breweries in 2017. This explains Kozel's marketing budgets and super aggressive campaign.

Kampai, bitches!

Merch Idea

I like to mix, adapt and steal.

There is a stamp tradition in Japan. Not like postage stamps, no, rubber stamps. You can get stamps almost at every place, from post offices to temples. The more stamps you collected, the more places you visited. People go bananas with stamps there.

So here's the mix: we can use it for our merch table. You go on a tour, make a stamp just for that tour: band’s name/logo, year, the name of the tour. To put a stamp on your postcard is for free, but a postcard (a photo of your band) is like 5 € or more. So it’s a good piece of memorabilia. You can sell small notebooks and people can collect stamps from your future tours and gigs.

Tonny Iommi gave an interview to Gibson.
(Funny, I thought Gibson is bankrupt)

Things to learn:
-don't set each other on fire
-don't paint each other gold
-you never know
-never say "never"
-discipline
-shitloads of challenges they had to go through

The rest you probably already know about Black Sabbath.

Apparently this song was completely created by an AI.

I'm not that deep into hip-hop genre, but I don't see any difference between this "artificial" song and the rest "real" songs.

So I guess the AI company is getting the royalties?

Found some info on singles vs albums.
According to the guy => many gravitate towards singles:
-- single-only deals: labels sign to a 1-2 song deal and see what happens. popular? good, a deal for an album. no popular? it’s out.
-- streaming services are driven by singles
Don’t release the whole album, do it, single by singles, cos it might get lost in a stream.
More details in the video.

Promo idea for facebook.

Sometimes when you browse fb, you see some people have some light sabres or whatever on their profile pic.

Turns out, you can make you own and upload it to fb for everyone to use. It's called A Frame and you can make it in a Frame Studio (link below).

So if you have a gig coming up, you can tell people to put a badge on your fb profile pic and it can be temporary (there's an option).

I'll make my own a bit later, when I decide on the design and let you know.

Stoned Meadow Of Doom

If you don't know:
The largest youtube channel for stoner and doom rock is going down. The dude got himself in trouble. Apparently, there was some hate speech involved and the public is not digging it. A mass unsubscribe, taking down of the videos, etc. You can see the drop in the photo below. And I don't think it's gonna end well, especially how the dude is reacting.

update:
he's definitely going down. people are posting screenshots from the private messages. this is bad.
Update on the Stoned Meadow of Doom

Fatality. The channel is a toast. One moment all is good and then, bam, all is lost.
"Disney has demanded that Etsy remove all items depicting the adorable, green, alien-like creature whose character's name is officially β€œThe Child,” but who is popularly known as Baby Yoda, according to tech web site The Verge."

Once, one of my Pikachu drawings was taken down in one of the stores, cos of similar reasons.

Btw, if you gonna become a successful musician and a star, please convince your management/label to follow the guidelines that WDMV set up.

It helps music video directors greatly.

Or/start following the guidelines today, cos it simplifies the process.
