Sunday is the best day. You know you had an amazing week. Time to recover and think how you gonna kill the next one.
We know that learning a new language can be challenging at times. Whatever you’re trying to achieve, staying motivated is the key to success. So how do you stay motivated? Learning English can be tough, so it’s useful to focus on the improvements learning English will make to your life. So whether English will make it easier for you to communicate when you’re abroad, or it will open up new working opportunities for you, just keep remembering those goals.
There’s no doubt about it – exams are scary 😱

If you regularly become excessively nervous before or during an important exam, you may have “testophobia”. It is mostly called “examinophobia” or “exam fever”.

It is a very common phenomenon among students especially when an important examination is at their doorstep. It is extremely disastrous as it affects them psychologically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
In fact, even Albert Einstein suffered from exam fever, and Winston Churchill only managed to write his name when he was appearing for an entrance exam.

Ways to help eliminate exam stress:

Before an exam
If you can concentrate well in the morning then do most of your studying before lunch, not late at night when you can’t concentrate. If you can study at night then study at later half of the day, but go to bed at a reasonable hour and get enough sleep.
Try answering questions from past exam papers or you can also try explaining tricky answers to someone else to make sure you have understood it.

Always ask for help if there are things you don’t understand, and especially if you are feeling, stressed out.

On the day of the exam, avoid talking to friends who get stressed easily. You know the ones with cue cards outside of the exam hall, frantically trying to remember key dates and equations. They will do nothing for your stress levels.

Write down everything you feel like you need to do and try and tick one thing off. Just the act of feeling like you are in control of your revision can help.

Watch a film, a TV show, play cricket or listen to some music that makes you feel good.
Drink some herbal tea or a hot chocolate. It’s a well-known fact that hot drinks are known to soothe the soul (avoid too much caffeine though!).
A shower or a bath can help relieve stress.

During an exam
Students who panic in an exam should take deep breaths.
If a question causes them to freeze, then they should move on to an easier question. Come back to the difficult question later.

After an exam
Avoid the exam “post-mortem”. You don’t need to know how other people fared in the exam. You’ve done your best, you can’t go back and change your answers so the second you step out of the exam hall, focus on your next exam.
Always remember that scoring low marks or failing an exam is not the end of the world.
“I’m knackered!”
This is a great one to break out when you’re catching your breath after a serious amount of physical exercise. Nothing could be more British than running for the bus while holding multiple bags of shopping in your hands. Once you’ve made it aboard, sit down next to the little old Granny in the front row, exhale loudly, turn to her, roll your eyes and exclaim, “I’m knackered!”

Meaning #1 - broken or too old to use:
My bike's knackered.

Meaning #2 - very tired:
I'm too knackered to go out this evening.
We use this tense for unfinished and finished actions.

Unfinished Actions
1: We use this tense when we want to talk about unfinished actions or states or habits that started in the past and continue to the present. Usually, we use it to say 'how long' and we need 'since' or 'for'. We often use stative verbs.

I've known Tom since 1994.
He's lived in New York for three years.
I've been hungry for hours.

Finished Actions
2: Life experience. These are actions or events that happened sometime during a person's life. We don't say when the experience happened, and the person needs to be alive now. We often use the words 'ever' and 'never' here.
I have been to Tokyo.
They have visited Paris three times.
We have never seen that film.

3: With an unfinished time word (this month, this week, today). The period of time is still continuing.
She's drunk three cups of coffee today.
I've already moved house twice this year!

We CAN'T use the present perfect with a finished time word.
NOT: I've seen him yesterday.
4: A finished action with a result in the present (focus on result). We often use the present perfect to talk about something that happened in the recent past, but that is still true or important now. Sometimes we can use the past simple here, especially in US English.
I've lost my keys (so I can't get into my house).
They've missed the bus (so they will be late).

5: We can also use the present perfect to talk about something that happened recently, even if there isn't a clear result in the present. This is common when we want to introduce news and we often use the words 'just / yet / already / recently'. However, the past simple is also correct in these cases, especially in US English.
I've just seen Lucy.
1. Know the Usage of Each Tense.
There are three basic verb tenses: simple present, simple past, and simple future.

2. Be Mindful of Shifting Tenses.
Check for shifting tenses within your sentence or your paragraph. As a general rule, the verb tense you are using should be consistent throughout your sentence and your paragraph. For example, the sentence “We had eaten (past perfect tense) dinner, and then we talked (simple past tense)” should be written as “We ate (simple past tense) dinner, and then we talked (simple past tense)”.

3. Know the Verb’s Proper Form for Each Tense.
Verbs change form when they are used in different tenses. You should familiarize yourself with the different verb forms for each tense. For simple past tense, the general rule is to add ‘ed’ at the end of the verb, but this does not apply to all verbs.  For future tenses, the verb is accompanied by the words ‘will’ or ‘shall’.
Free your mind from worries, fears, aches, and doubts. Move on and leave behind everything that stresses you out. Remember that we only live once, don’t waste it. Choose to live happily and learn Eglish!
If you want to be a fluent speaker of English in the future, you need to get started.
You must first get involved. If you’ve made the decision to start learning English, that’s great! If you need some gentle persuasion, think about what you really want in life and what you need to do to achieve it. If learning English will help you, then it’s time to start learning.
1.  Immerse yourself with English and pay attention to phrasal verbs being used.
2.  Learn Phrasal Verbs by topic.
3.  Write down those topics on a piece of paper.
4.  Divide your diary/vocabulary book into topics, and add any new phrasal verbs you hear or learn under those topics.
5.  Personalize those phrasal verbs.
6.  Listen to natural conversations in English, so that you can hear phrasal verbs being used naturally in English.
7.  Use any new phrasal verbs you learn in spoken form.  Tokport is a really nice English speaking partner, with whom you can practice speaking and using these phrasal verbs. Get started!
"Your" means belonging to you.
"You're" means you are.
This can seem confusing because the position of the apostrophe seems like it might indicate possession.  However, in this case, the apostrophe is for the contraction.

Example: Tell me when you're going to your house.
Example: It's your job if you're willing to take it.

What do you find the most fascinating when learning a new language? It could be the new words or phrases – some of which might sound very strange to begin with! If you’re interested in these parts of the English language, you might find @tokport interesting and useful 🤗
We use this expression to suggest a different time, quantity or another item to what was suggested before.
Example: So, I'll see you at 9, then.
Make it half-past. That'll be better for me.
Do you use this phrase?
One of the best ways to learn English vocabulary is reading.
Reading is a good way to learn new words, but what you read can also make a huge difference in how much you learn.
Choose books that are a little bit challenging for you, and you will learn a lot more than if you read at your level.
If you read a book at your level, you may already know all the words. If you read a challenging book, you will need to learn many new words.
You can also try reading special vocabulary books. These are fiction books that include over 1,000 vocabulary words and their definitions! These books are available to buy online, and can be found by searching Amazon.
