*CRPF Recreation Barrack In Kupwara Damaged In Fire*

Kupwara, Sept 8 (GNS): A recreation barrack of paramilitary CRPF was partially damaged in a fire incident on Wednesday afternoon. While the fire was brought under control, there was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident, official sources said.
They said fire broke out in the recreation barrack of CRPF’s 162 battalion at Zangli, behind district police lines Kupwara, this afternoon. The blaze was brought under control by CRPF personnel even as there was partial damage to the structure.
A police official told GNS that short circuit is said to have caused the fire. However the official said investigations are underway. There was no loss of life or injury in the incident.
Commandant of the unit told GNS that fire erupted at around 2:30 p.m. and was brought under control.
“There was damage to furniture etc. However there was no loss of life or injury in the incident. There was no damage to any weaponry or ammunition in the incident either,” he said. (GNS)

*Admin Order Installation Of CCTVs In Anantnag, Recording To Be ‘Always’ Kept Available For Police Monitoring*

Srinagar, Sept 8 (GNS): District administration Anantnag on Wednesday ordered various government departments and private companies besides owners of shopping malls and all other business establishments including hotels, restaurants, clinics, nursing homes and hospitals to install CCTVs in or outside respective premises.
In an order by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla (IAS), the CCTV HDD (storage device) has to be “always” kept available for monitoring of law enforcement agencies.
“In order to keep an eye on anti-social elements and their activities, there is a need of additional surveillance measures which include installation and extensive usage of CCTV cameras in public places / offices with adequate data storage capacity,” reads the order by Deputy Commissioner, a copy of which lies with GNS.
“The installation of CCTV in public places has proved to be a deterrent, which not only prevents crimes like thefts, burglary, eve-teasing etc. but at times is useful in safeguarding lives and property of public,” reads the order.
Subsequently, “in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 Cr. P.C”, the deputy commissioner ordered that District or Sectoral heads of all departments or organizations shall ensure installation of CCTV cameras in and outside the office premises with data storage capacity of minimum 15 days. Similarly, Municipal Council or Committees have been asked to ensure installation of CCTV in their offices as well as busy market places, Bus/Sumo stands and entry fee collection check posts etc.
“The public/private sector banks, insurance companies and all central government departments shall also ensure installation of CCTV cameras in and outside their office premises,” the order reads, adding, “the proprietors / owners of shopping malls / complexes and all other business establishments including hotels, restaurants and clinics / nursing homes / hospitals shall also ensure installation of CCTV in and around the buidlings /premises.”

*Parl Committee Of MEA Expressed Satisfaction Over Improved Security Situation In Kashmir: Army*
Srinagar, Sep 8 (GNS): Army on Wednesday said that an 11-member parliamentary committee of Ministry of External Affairs expressed satisfaction over the “improved security situation” in Kashmir Valley.
The members led by committee’s chairman PP Chaudhary visited Chinar Corps headquarters here today and were received by GOC Chinar Corps Lt Gen DP Pandey, a defense ministry spokesman based in Srinagar said in a statement to GNS.
“The GOC briefed them on the situation on the Line of Control and in the hinterland. They were also briefed on the steps being taken to break the cycle of violence and bring peace and stability in Kashmir,” the spokesman said, adding, “Chinar Corps efforts towards Citizen-Army connect were also highlighted.” The “MEA representative”, he said, were also briefed the members on counter militancy efforts of the MEA.
The Committee members were later shown modern equipment currently being effectively used by the Indian army, he said.
“Parliamentary Committee of External Affairs appreciated the efforts of the Security Forces and expressed satisfaction at the improved security situation in Kashmir,” he said, adding, “The Committee members expressed that there is a need for greater efforts at MHA, MEA and MoD level, to counter false propaganda of the adversaries and share the ground truth at all forums.” (GNS)
