*118 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, 2 Deaths Reported In J&K*

Srinagar, Aug 2 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir reported 118 new covid-19 cases even as two persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Monday.

They said 72 of the cases were reported from Jammu Division and 46 from Kashmir Valley, taking the case tally to 321725.

Providing the district-wide details, the officials told GNS that Srinagar reported 18 cases, Baramulla 25, Budgam 11, Pulwama 1, Kupwara 2, Anantnag 0, Bandipora 0, Ganderbal 4, Kulgam 2, Shopian 0, Jammu 5, Udhampur 1, Rajouri 6, Doda 15, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 3, Poonch 0, Ramban 0 and Reasi 42.

There were two fresh deaths due to the virus, each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions, they said. with this, 4381 people have fallen victim to the pathogen in J&K—2144 in Jammu division and 2237 in Kashmir.

A number of cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories of CD hospital and GMC Jammu.

The CD cases include male (40) and female (37) from Hawal, male (24) from Baramulla, male (25) from Achgoza Pul, male (60) from Nagbal, female (40) from Kadalbal Pampore, female (28) from Balhama, male (8) from Awantipora, male male (45) from Pampore and male (17) from Tailbal.

The GMC Anantnag cases include male (56) from Gutligund Verinag, female (26) from Panzath, male (35) from Khanabal Ang and male (35) from Gulshan Abad Ang.

Moreover, they said, 73 more COVID-19 patients in last 24 hours have recovered— 47 from Jammu Division and 26 from Kashmir, taking the number of people who have recovered in J&K to 316090. With this, there are now 1254 active cases—491 in Jammu and 763 in Kashmir.

There was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 35 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials added. (GNS)
*Police issues new Target list of 10 top militants, 07 old and 03 new ones*

Srinagar, August 02:(GNS) Police on Monday issued a new target list of top ten militants of Kashmir Valley.

Quoting IGP in a tweet on official Twitter handle Kashmir Police wrote, "Top 10 targets: Old militants- Salim Parray, Yousuf Kantroo, Abbas Sheikh, Reyaz Shetergund, Farooq Nali, Zubair Wani & Ashraf Molvi. New militants- Saqib Manzoor, Umer Mustaq Khandey & Wakeel Shah: IGP Kashmir, reads the tweet.(GNS)
*North Kashmir: Gunfight breaks out in Bandipora*

Srinagar, August 03:(GNS) A fierce Gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Chandaji area in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in Chandanji.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Pertinently, three LeT militants were killed last month in Bandipora forest in a gunfight.(GNS)
