*145 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, One Death Reported In J&K*

Srinagar, Aug 1 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir reported 145 new covid-19 cases even as one person succumbed to the contagion in the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.

They said 48 of the cases were reported from Jammu Division and 97 from Kashmir Valley, taking the case tally to 321607.

Providing the district-wide details, the officials told GNS that Srinagar reported 32 cases, Baramulla 25, Budgam 9, Pulwama 3, Kupwara 4, Anantnag 5, Bandipora 2, Ganderbal 13, Kulgam 4, Shopian 0, Jammu 13, Udhampur 3, Rajouri 3, Doda 14, Kathua 1, Samba 0, Kishtwar 4, Poonch 2, Ramban 1 and Reasi 7.

The fresh death due to the virus was reported from Jammu. So far 4379 people have fallen victim to the pathogen in J&K—2143 in Jammu division and 2236 in Kashmir.

A number of cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories of CD hospital and GMC Jammu.

The CD cases include Male (50) (NA) from Munwar, male (70) (NA) from Habakadal, female (53) (NA) from K.K Bagh Pampore, male (35) (NA) from Noorbagh, female (20) (NA) from Rajouri, female (26) (NA) from Jawaharnagar and male (30) (NA) from Bemina Sgr.

The GMC cases include female (40) from Mughalgund and male (38) from Qazigund.

Moreover, they said, 109 more COVID-19 patients in last 24 hours have recovered— 35 from Jammu Division and 74 from Kashmir, taking the number of people who have recovered in J&K to 316017. With this, there are now 1211 active cases—467 in Jammu and 744 in Kashmir.

There was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 35 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials added. (GNS)

*Kishtwar Cloudburst: No Trace Of 19 Missing Persons As Rescue Op Continues For 5th Day*

Poonch, Aug 1 (GNS): With rescue operations continuing on Sunday for the fifth consecutive day at Honzar village in Kishtwar district, which was devastated by cloudburst and subsequent floods on intervening night of July 27 and 28, there is still no trace of the 19 missing persons who went missing during the calamity.

Success has been eluding the search teams after seven bodies were recovered and seventeen persons rescued in injured condition after the calamity on Wednesday last.

Authorities say they inducted additional rescue teams of NDRF and SDRF for carrying out the rescue operation. Several teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) with “sophisticated equipment” were earlier involved in the operation along with other rescuers from police, Army and local volunteers, the officials said.
The missing persons include Saja Begum (60) wife of Ghulam Mohidin, Khursheed Ahmed (31) son of Mohammad Iqbal, Fida Hussain (26) son of Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Sharif (40) son of Ghulam Rasool, Almina Tasbassum (22) daughter of Mohammad Iqbal, Mata Begum (45) wife of Lala Tantry, Ghulam Mohammad (70) son of Ghulam Rasool, Fazal Hussain (18) son of Rustom Ali Chopan, Tariq Hussain (50) son of Nazir Ahmed, Zarina Begum (40) wife of Tariq Hussain, Mata Begum (45) wife of Ghulam Rasool, Fatima Begum (56) wife of Ghulam Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed (45) son of Rustum Ali, Begum (45) wife of Abdul Rehman, Sharifa Begum (38) wife of Ghulam Mohammad, Shakir Hussain (22) son of Ghulam Ahmed, Ghulam Ahmed (65) son of Abdul Aziz, Zubaida Banoo (25) daughter of Ghulam Ahmed and Khalid son of Haji Gami.

The police on Saturday also started a community kitchen to provide meals to affected people of village Hounzar. The police said to have erected tents to provide the temporary shelter at the site.

SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain continues to camp there at the cloudburst-hit site to supervise the ongoing rescue and relief operations being carried out by JKP, NDRF, SDRF, Army and civil administration of district Kishtwar. (GNS)

*Unknown gunmen fired upon gate of political activist in Srinagar*

Srinagar, Aug 01, KDC: Unknown gunmen fired a few shots on a gate of a political activist in Padshahi Bagh area of Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Reliable sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that unknown gunmen fired upon the main gate of a political activist identified as Mohammad Umar son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Padshahi Bagh. He was present in his house at the time of the incident.

They said that Umar accordingly informed police and accordingly forces have rushed to his residence and further investigation has been set into motion.

Umar is said to be affiliated with the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM).

*Landslide Closes Mughal Road*

Poonch, Aug 2 (GNS): Mughal road, connecting Shopian and Poonch-Rajouri districts, was closed due to a massive landslide at Poshana along the thoroughfare, officials said on Monday.

They said the landslides occurred amid incessant rains from last several days in the area.

DTI Mughal Road Qasam Choudhary told GNS that traffic has been halted on either side of the road. The road was opened for all types of vehicular traffic on July 5. Prior to the road was only allowed to be used for ferrying perishable items, mainly fruits.

On July 5 the administration had also opened Sinthan-Kokernag road, which connects Anantnag district to Kishtwar, for civilian traffic. The particular road is open, they added. (GNS)

*Mughal Road closed for traffic movement after landslide at Poshana*

Rajouri, Aug 02 (KNO): The traffic movement on Mughal Road was suspended on Monday morning after a landslide near Poshana area of Surankote in Poonch district.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the road got closed after landslide occurred near Poshana today morning, following which traffic movement was suspended on both sides.

They said that the road clearance operations were in progress to resume traffic on the road—(KNO)
*LeT module busted in Anantnag, four militant associates arrested says police*

Srinagar, August 02:(GNS) Police on Monday claimed claimed have arrested four militant associates accused to be part of a LeT Module in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

In a statement to GNS, the police said that it busted an militant module wherein Police apprehended four accused who were using online plate-forms to train youth of the area in militant crimes. They were also motivating them to join the militant organisation of Lashkar-r-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

On a tip off, one Aamir Reyaz Lone a resident of Baramulla was arrested . On analysing the electronic devices and other incriminating materials so recovered from the accused it was found that the said accused is in contact with active militant namely Hilal Sheikh ( LeT) of Baramulla, they said.

Upon his disclosure it came to fore that one of his associates namely Owais Ahmad Shaksaz a resident of Seer Hamdan, Anantnag is in the process of making an Improvised Explosive Device with the help of information from the open source internet platforms. Immediately the accused got apprehended, they said.

On further investigation two more accused namely Tamil @ Suhaib Muzaffar Qazi, a resident of Qazi Mohalla, Rajpora, Pulwama and Tariq Ahmed Dar, a resident of Qaimuh, Kulgam arrested by Anantnag Police. During interrogation Police learnt that Tamil Qazi was in direct contact with active militant of LeT, Aaqib Dar of Pulwama and was provided with a hand grenade to attack on security forces which was recovered at his instance later by police.

The statement further stated that the other accused, Tariq Dar was found in contact with an active militant namely Aslam Dar of Kulgam and was providing logistical support to the said militant

The whole module was was working for active militants of Lashkar e Toiba and was developing an IED to carry out blasts in Anantnag town. Apart from this all the militant associates of this module were motivating youth of the valley to join terrorist ranks.

A major attack was averted bu Police by busting this IED Module and also the boys who were getting influenced by the propaganda of this online module were saved, reads the statement.(GNS)
