RIP ALAN WONG (FMR GOMBAK UTD TEAM MANAGER)

Former Gombak United team manager Alan Wong (file picture, as credited) passed away on 13/4/24, aged 59.

Wong was instrumental in steering the Bulls to make their S.League debut in 1998 - the same year saw him clinched the "Manager of The Year" award.

He resigned from the mentioned position the following year to concentrate his role as team manager of NFL (National Football League) side Redhill Rangers, a role he held concurrently with the one at Gombak United until October 1999 when the two entities went separate ways (Redhill Rangers successfully applied to join the S.League, leading to their renaming as Gombak United. However, they continued to exist in the lower-tier NFL under the same name).

NOT THE TYPE OF ACL WE WANT, RIGHT?

With more Singapore Premier League games to be played on plastic fields at both Jalan Besar Stadium (JBS) and Jurong East, could it increase the likelihood of injuries like the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)?

#bftp9am - STANGE STARE

The former Singapore national coach, Bernd Stange, is seen in this undated photograph, looking at a reporter during a media session.

The German coach arrived with an impressive resume, having previously managed the national teams of East Germany and Iraq.

Despite his good intentions, he paid the price for hastily implementing changes that he believed were necessary.

"It was SOFT!" said 'Wrighty' after he sampled one of the local delicacies at the market.

"VOICE VS ACCOUNTABILITY IN SOCIAL MEDIA"

The rise of social media has made it possible for anyone to express their opinions on open platforms, a significant change from the past when only industry experts or Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) would be quoted or comment on relevant topics.

However, it is equally crucial to occasionally step back and reflect on how we convey our thoughts online.

I have noticed that individuals often become excessively emotional when debating a fiercely contested topic, which can sometimes lead to personal attacks.

I firmly believe in engaging in debates constructively and avoiding excessive emotional involvement.

At the same time, it is essential to be accountable for your words and the potential repercussions they may have.

Recently, I encountered a post online that I considered inappropriate. In essence, the tone and language used were undesirable and could expose the author to legal consequences.

As mentioned at the start of this post, the emergence of social media has made it possible for anyone to express their opinions on open platforms.

However, it is important to exercise some self-restraint, responsibility, and decorum to ensure that any debate remains cordial and constructive, ultimately leading to the desired outcome.

Mislav Karoglan aka "Kari" joined SAFFC in 2011 and was a prolific striker for the Warriors during his time with them.

🎯 He was one of the many top marksmen hailed from the Balkan region who played for the multi-time S.League champions with the likes of late Jure Eres, Mirko Grabovac and former Singapore international Aleksandar Duric.

Pictured here is Kari in his debut for SAFFC in the first 5pm S.League match at the Jalan Besar Stadium against Courts Young Lions in February 2011.

"FOMO VS. JOMO: NAVIGATING CONTENT CREATION IN THE SOCIAL MEDIA AGE 🧐"

I can only speak from my perspective, based on what I've observed in my niche (Singapore Football).

In recent years, I've noticed a rise in content creators who are capitalising on the ease of using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and others.

One trend I've observed is the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among these new creators, as many seem to be imitating each other without creating a distinct identity.

It didn't take long for some of them to stop, presumably due to a lack of motivation or other reasons.

For me, this highlights the importance of not blindly following the crowd, which is why I support the concept of Joy of Missing Out (JOMO).

Therefore, it's crucial to differentiate yourself by having a clear idea of what you want to achieve with your content.

Just my opinion.
