SOME THOUGHTS ON POST SEA GAMES REVIEW

Based on those recommendations, it is not hard to tell a thing or two where and why our SEA Games footballers failed to perform up to expectations.

• SPL NOT UP TO MARK
When one of the findings mentioned 'tournament (SEA Games) was played at an intensity “beyond that of the” SPL.', it has proven that SPL (Singapore Premier League) does not provide the necessary environment and pace to gear our players to play at a higher level usually demanded at the international levels, be it the SEA Games or any international tournaments.

• RADDY ALREADY SAID SO
Which the reason why former national coach Raddy Avramovic once said the importance of our clubs to do well in regional tournaments such as the AFC Cup, as players would gain the necessary exposure at club levels by playing in those tournaments and would adapt the pace easily when they came to play for the national team, if selected.

• POOR FUNDAMENTALS
On the other hand, players at that age-group should be equipped with strong fundamental skill sets that see them elevated to the next levels to compete head and shoulders with their peers, but as we can see for ourselves during the SEA Games it was not the case.

So it, once again, boiled down to the poor grassroot developments of our football ecosystem.

ICYMI, based on what was reported in the attached ST article, dated last September.

1) So long neither the EXCO nor, at least, one third of its 40 associates trigger an "Extraordinary Congress", as mentioned, Bernard Tan will continue to serve as interim/acting FAS president till the end of the current term ends in 2025?

2) If triggered by either party, mentioned in (1), the Extraordinary Congress must take part before this October to vote for a new FAS President?

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced the National U22 team will not be taking part in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games 2022, scheduled for in September 2023.

The National Women’s Team will continue to participate in the above-mentioned games instead.

The cancellation of AS Roma's two matches in South Korea resulted in them pulling out of the Singapore Festival of Football (SFF) match against Tottenham Hotspur at the National Stadium on 26th July.

Singapore Premier League side Lion City Sailors will play the north Londoners, according to the media release issued by the organisers, as reported by The Straits Times (ST).

I think any coach would be furious the way the defence conceded the last goal of the game - no urgency and casual and defenders must have forgotten one of the commandments - Thou shan't dribble in the box when defence.
