Back in 2018, the late former FAS president Lim Kia Tong mooted the idea of getting corporate entities to get involved in Singapore football again like once the popular Singapore Business Houses Football League (SBHFL) did in the past.

A staff member from the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) was about to place the Singapore Cup trophy on the pedestal before the 2010 final at Jalan Besar Stadium.
🏆 This trophy is the second version since the professionalisation of the game in the island republic and was unveiled in 2006 to replace the earlier version.
🐰 The year 2010 was a significant one for the tournament, as Thai club Bangkok Glass (now known as BG Pathum) became the first foreign side to win Singapore football's premier knockout competition.
🌏 Despite the name of the tournament, various clubs from neighbouring countries had been invited to participate in the competition to enhance its regional appeal in recent years.
