THAT KILLER PUNCH!

The sucker punch was delivered just before the interval when South Korea finally triggered the scoreboard after being frustrated by the well disciplined Lions at the back for most of the first half.

I was thinking πŸ€”πŸ’ what if that sucker punch by Cho Gue-sang before interval did not happen, would be it be a different ball game?

Having been frustrated by Lions' ultra defensive tactics for the large part of the first half, the bigger pressure would be on the Koreans to come up with something to justify their worth.

It must be a sign of relief when Cho broke the deadlock and eventually saw our boys losing their shape and eventually being walloped in the end.

If the scoreline remained 0-0 at half time, it would, no doubt, be a morale booster for the Lions to carry on.

Sadly, it was not the case.
SOME THOUGHT S'PORE COULD UPSET ARSENAL

🧐 Some felt Arsenal were the weakest among the foreign club sides (other being Celtic FC of Scotland and Yugoslavia's Red Star Belgrade) of 1977's Metro 20th anniversary Tournament that Singapore - the newly-crowned Malaysia Cup winners could cause an upset.

⛏️ As more details such as match pictures from the discontinued "Asian Soccer" are unearthed in a blog post of this eye-opening tournament in that eventful year.

THE LIONS OUTCLASSED AT HOME

It wasn't the strongest Thai squad with a few notable absentees, yet Singapore failed to capitalise on that and literally paid the price for the slip at the back and lack of bite upfront.

JUST GET HIM NOW!

The Straits Times (ST) reported Albirex Niigata (Singapore)'s head coach Kazuaki Yoshinaga is one of those approached by the Football Association of Singapore for the post of Singapore national team's head coach.

This revelation came at a time after Lions suffered back to back defeats to South Korea and Thailand in the recent World Cup qualifiers.

ℹ️ Coach Yoshinaga claimed his fourth "Coach of The Year" accolade in last night's (23/11) FAS Awards Night.

GAME OVER SOON FOR NISHIGAYA?

⏳To have such an article being published at this timing, is it a tacit sign that Singapore national team head coach Takayuki Nishigaya's time is numbered?
