Attacks reported at Lennon Walls as pro-government groups retaliate

Groups of Hong Kong government supporters attacked residents in three separate incidents at Lennon Walls in Hang Hau, Fortress Hill and Kowloon Bay today after some pro-establishment figures had issued a call for a city-wide clean up.

A 35-year-old man has been injured on his arms, legs and face while he walked past a tunnel in Hang Hau Man Kuk Lane Park at 11:33 this morning and was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment. The attack took place after a group of 20 people were seen destroying and removing the anti-government messages. The case was being handled as an assault occasioning actual bodily harm by the criminal investigation unit.

Violence also broke out near Fortress Hill MTR station, with around 12 government supporters scuffling with local residents at 13:45. The assailants, in blue T-shirts with the words “I love HK police” and some carrying Chinese flags, were seen hitting, kicking and waving poles at a handful of people near a Lennon Wall.

At 16:50, a third fight broke out at a Lennon Wall in a tunnel near Amoy Plaza in Kowloon Bay. The fighting started when a woman tore down posters from the Lennon Wall. Some residents then argued with her and yelled “go back to the mainland”. A man believed to be her husband then pushed one of the people. His actions triggered a brief fight between him and some local residents, which was followed by heated arguments between a middle-aged onlooker and a group of young, black-clad and masked residents as he got on an ambulance.

Human Chain Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival on Lion Rock

Civilians climbing Lion Rock on Mid-Autumn Festival have formed a human chain that extends from the top to the foot of the mountain. Laser pointers have lighted up the mountain, and a banner reading “proceed with full universal suffrage” hanged from the “lion head”. Meanwhile, people on the Peak echoed back to people on Lion Rock with their laser pointers, creating a scene imitating “The Symphony of Lights” that is regularly shown at Victoria Harbour.

Case #3: 8 Sept 2019

When the riot police dispersed the public, a South Korean journalist was slammed by a long shield. The journalist yelled back in Korean angrily, and the riot squad imitated him, using the illegitimate Korean to sneer at the journalist and abruptly pushed him away with force.

Case #4: 8 Sept 2019

Outside Mong Kok Police Station, a person was pushed down by the riot police on Nathan Street near Bute Street. He revealed that he was a French journalist; however, a police officer tackled him still.

The man was shocked. It was not known whether he was arrested or not, as the riot police stopped all press at the scene from reporting.

An Overview by The Guardian, 9 Sept 2019 (

//Journalists covering the recent protests in Hong Kong are experiencing increasing violence from the police.

A range of abuses have been reported, including being shoved and indiscriminately hit with pepper spray or teargas by officers despite frontline journalists clearly labelled themselves as press by regularly wearing reflective vests and press credentials when covering demonstrations.

Two journalists spoke of their own personal experience of police violence including how the police assaults on them impeded their ability to work.//

Chinese in Melbourne Condemning Hong Kong Protesters, Without Knowing the Cause of the Protests

Watch the full video here

Approaching the camera on the street of Melbourne, the man from China (in red in the video) said that all pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong should be arrested and charged.

Regarding the Police-Triad collusion where protesters and passers-by were attacked, the man, however, did not think that the triads who had openly committed assaults should be arrested. According to the man, the Triads were just “defending” their homeland.

When asked to comment on the five demands of the pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, the man was unable to explain what they are but insisted on the demands' violation of the "one country, two systems" policy.

The interview reveals not only the man's double standard in judging the pro-democracy protesters, the police and Triads, but also the aggrandizing China-centered nationalism that has been spreaded outside China.

[Call for Action: Hong Kong SOS]
Mid-Autumn Festival is meant for reunions and celebrations with friends and families. This year, Hongkongers spent the day (13 Sept) with mixed feelings:

In addition to political prosecution faced by the pro-democracy protesters, passers-by are subject to random arrests. Meanwhile, police turned a blind eye to citizens attacked by pro-Beijing supporters through physical abuse and volleys of verbal insults. Cases of police brutality and sexual violence are known to have happened during detention.

With the authorities' unwillingness to address the 5 demands and the worrying growth of police power, many Hongkongers see the current protests as the last chance to fight for freedom before Beijing fully suppresses the city with an iron grip.

Dear readers from abroad, if you want to bring comfort, hope and encouragement to Hongkongers, you can share in the 'comment box' below:

1400 Causeway Bay

Civil Human Rights Front's application to hold the "Five Demands, Not One Less" Rally on September 15 has been banned by the police even after an appeal. The police said the decision was made because they may not have enough manpower to maintain public order if another 2 million people are taking the streets today. Netizens have thus suggested civilians to "go shopping" around the Causeway Bay area. As of 1400, not many were seen from the Causeway Bay MTR Station.

Multiple exits of the Central MTR Station have been heavily guarded by riot police and plainclothes police equipped with helmets, batons and rifles. Some people have been stopped by the police to check on their identity cards before they were allowed to leave. When responding to civilian's enquiry on road conditions, the police said: "It's fine now, but not sure how it's going to be later."
